The food was sooo good the drinks were even better. The decor was really interesting and different in the best possible way. The way the dishes pair spicy, sweet, and texture is truly refreshing.
I'm from Ann Arbor, where everything is overpriced and generally run-of-the-mill. Takoi pushes the envelope in a refreshing way, and you won't regret the experience. We were stunned by how fast the service was, how efficiently the place ran, how unassuming servers were, and how creative the food and drinks were. The coconut cream pancakes were ridiculous, as was the 'Promises in Vortex' cocktail. Don't pass up this opportunity—it will stick in your memory for a while.
Had a group reservation that got delayed but the hostess made up by offering a complimentary app! We started with the apps which were yummm. The main course needs to be ordered all upfront so that your dishes start to magically appear one after the other...nonstop and perfectly timed! The drink options are many and all were bursting with flavor. Amazing spot with an even amazing dinner & service offering....Must go...5/5!!
Takoi is easily one of our favorite spots in Detroit, and we always make sure to visit for my wife’s birthday. The atmosphere is vibrant, the service is fantastic, and the food is consistently outstanding. Every dish is beautifully crafted, with bold flavors that keep us coming back. It’s a special place for us, and I can’t recommend it highly enough if you’re looking for an exceptional dining experience!
The menu has SO many vegan options, I couldn't believe it. VG means vegan on their menu and it was about 50% or more that I saw and the food was phenomenal. We got the 7 course vegetarian meal turned vegan. Our waiter honestly made the night. He seemed like he loved life, loved working there, and he was so nice and helpful. He even asked if I was okay with honey or not; as a strict vegan, that consideration means so much to me :') they subbed the honey with this vegan caramel made out of palm sugar and it was delectable. Can't wait to be back!!
Takoi is one of the very few Thai places I’ve been to that has the original thai chili spice. Food was quick and had a very well balanced flavor. Service is quick and clean. Papaya salad and crispy bbq ribs were top notch. This place def gets noisy at peak times so not a good idea if planning for a quiet/quieter meal.
So sad it took me so long to come here. Everything was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Excellent drinks and very quick service! I could have ordered one of everything.
Drinks were so delicious. The food was fabulous, some of the most flavorful food I’ve had! Can’t go wrong trying this place.
We love Takoi! There is not a bad item on the menu! Word of advice, either go early or make sure you have reservations. They get very filled up starting early. Can't wait to go back.
Phenomenal food & cocktails! Everything we ordered weee delicious. My drink 1913( I think) was amazing. Friendly and efficient service. A little loud and not exactly my vibe but they did the best the could with a space with no windows.
